This delicious ensemble, as I like to call it a sugary candy-colored body of work, gained purpose during the very first weeks of lock down back in 2020 due to the coronavirus-pandemic. Viewing these paintings today, it’s hard to look beyond the yummines and playfulness that is clearly evidant. But these are also objectively beautiful and I think it's as worthy a subject matter as any to consider how class and style often set the terms of what’s to be taken seriously and what not. My hope is to capture a little bit of unexpected joy in every-day-subjects and surprise the viewer, evoking a favorite memory or elicite a smile.
